18-year-old found dead in heavily-trafficked Colorado open space

Boulder park rangers located a deceased 18-year-old male in the heavily-trafficked Chautauqua Meadow area on December 4.

An initial report about the situation came in at about 7 a.m. that morning, with the body of the male described to be west of Bluebell Road in City of Boulder managed open space. This is a popular area for outdoor recreation, located on the southwest side of the city and home to trails beneath the city’s famed Flatirons.

Crews soon located the male and he was pronounced deceased. After an on-scene investigation was conducted by detectives with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and staff from the coroner’s office, the male’s body was carried back to the trailhead by members of Rocky Mountain Rescue.

At this time, foul play is not suspected; however, the investigation remains on-going,” wrote the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

Additional details related to the male’s identification and cause of death are set to be released by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office at a later date.

Condolences go out to those impacted by this death.
