If you enjoy hiking in the summer, then snowshoeing will surely become your next favorite winter sport. Snow Mountain Ranch’s Nordic Center also offers snowshoe rentals so that the whole family can enjoy the 120 kilometers of trails and the sub-alpine scenery. There are even some trails that Fido can enjoy as well, so don’t forget to bring your best furry friend with you on your adventure. Once you’ve spent the morning playing outside, head to the Nordic Center’s Skinny Ski Cafe, the perfect place to warm up with a light snack, a bowl of soup, or a sandwich.

3. Try fat biking on snow-covered terrain.

Fat biking is quickly becoming a popular winter pastime. Rolling over snowy, uneven terrain on those fat tires is one of the most fun ways to enjoy the outdoors in winter. Fat tire bikes can be rented at the Nordic Center alongside cross country and skate skis and snowshoes.

4. You can play with puppies. Yes, puppies.

Snow Mountain Ranch added a dog sledding program in 2013, and it’s quickly become one of the most popular activities at the Ranch. You can choose from short, long, full moon, and group sledding adventures, and shout “Mush!” as you race along with the highly-trained team of 20 dogs through the mountain meadows of Snow Mountain Ranch.

Bonus: There’s a new litter of puppies at Snow Mountain Ranch getting ready to train for the season. Even if you’re not sledding, you can visit the pups, watch their training, and play with them. So, puppies, snow-covered fields, majestic mountain landscape… It really doesn’t get any better.
