‘Love is Blind’ Denver season gets official launch date

Fans of the hit reality TV dating show “Love is Blind” now have a new date to circle on their calendars.

Netflix on Thursday announced its Denver edition of “Love is Blind” will premiere on the streaming platform on Oct. 1.

The show’s ninth season will feature Denver singles looking for love, but the catch is they get to know each other from inside isolated pods and never meet face to face until they’re ready to propose, sight unseen.

After the proposal, the couples go on a series of dates around the Mile High City and on a vacation before meeting at the altar to decide if they’ll wed.

The viral dating series, hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, took off in 2020 when it launched during the pandemic.

Casting for the Denver season of “Love is Blind” took place beginning in 2023 and the Denver season was announced in March.

Denver has recently seen a surge of public interest in reality dating TV series, beyond just “Love is Blind.”

A number of Denver establishments hosted watch parties for “Love Island USA” recently, including the Olive Tiger, a hair salon and luxury cocktail lounge in the Lower Highlands. An Instagram post announcing the watch parties went viral and people lined up early to get in.

Love Island fever is taking over some Denver bars

“We weren’t expecting the success that we got from it and the fact that it went as viral as it did,” Amanda Lawlor, the owner of The Olive Tiger, told The Denver Gazette. “It was a huge success before we even started.”

Hundreds of people last weekend tried to watch the “Love Island” season finale at McGregor Square, with some even being turned away because the event had reached capacity.

Will “Love is Blind” watch parties find success in Denver as well? Time will tell.

Denver Gazette business reporter Bernadette Berdychowski contributed to this report.

KQ and Snoopy are two of a kind

“To the world, you may be one person. But to one person, you may be the world.” – Snoopy.  To the thousands of both ordinary and extraordinary Coloradans who have been directed on a stage by a man known only as KQ – and there have been an estimated 10,000 of them – he’s something of an enigma.
