RTD to adjust bus and rail routes for two construction projects
The Regional Transportation District will change a handful of transit routes at the end of August as it continues work on two downtown construction projects.
With the agency continuing its work on both downtown Denver rail reconstruction and Downtown Boulder Station expansion, it will adjust several bus and rail services in the coming weeks, according to a news release.
The rail services affected by the downtown rail project starting Aug. 31 are as follows:
- The D Line will end at Union Station instead of the 18th and California Station, with no service to the Colorado Convention Center
- The H Line will run only between the Florida and Southmoor stations. Riders will have to transfer to the E Line to continue along the Southeast and Central Platte Valley corridors
- The L Line will be suspended. Bus Route 43 will still be available to riders
- The E, R and W lines will all see minor schedule changes
Additionally, several bus service lines will be affected by the Downtown Boulder Station expansion. They are as follows:
- Several bus routes will be adjusted, including 6, 30, 32, 35, 52, ART, 228 and AB2
- Others will see seasonal adjustments, including 11, 20, 24, 35, 42, 65, 73, NB, SKIP, 204, 205, 206, 208
- Route 29 will be suspended. Those affected can use Route 30
Several new gates — M, N, P, R and S — will be available at the station beginning Aug. 31. Those new gates will impact the following routes:
- Route 208 will move to Gate P for drop off and pick up
- Route 225 will use Gate H for drop off and Gate S for pick up
- JUMP will use Gate N for both drop off and pick up and Gate N for a handful of trips
Others changes will go into effect on Aug. 31:
- Route AB2 will no longer serve Downtown Boulder Station. The service will shift to Boulder Junction at Depot Square Station Route
- AB3 will run from Downtown Boulder Station on Saturdays only
The end of August will also mark the reopening of Boulder Junction at Depot Square. The following routes will be impacted by the change:
- The AB2 and FF4 routes will only run during peak morning and afternoon times on weekdays
- The AB2 will operate along 28th Street to the U.S. 36 and Table Mesa Station, serving the U.S.36 and McCaslin as well as the U.S. 36 and Flatiron stations to and from the Denver International Airport
Riders who use Access-a-Ride should be aware that any changes to the regular bus and rail routes may also impact paratransit service ability, RTD said in the release. The agency said that they will communicate any changes that may affect those services in advance.
The agency is encouraging riders to visit its service changes webpage for a complete and up-to-date list of updates.
