Weekend things to do around Denver and beyond: Unicorn Fest in Aurora and more

They’re magical creatures and youngsters can  find them at the Unicorn Festival along with mermaids and princesses and others. Foam parties both days, unicorn races and a Sunday 5K run. SUNDAY

A nationally known art festival with more than 165 artists from 20 different states, the Affordable Arts Festival is Sunday. Here’s what sets it apart: all the fine art is $150 or less. On the campus of Arapahoe Community College, 5900 S. Santa Fe in Littleton, they invite the large crowd arriving before 9 a.m. opening to visit vendors for coffee and pastries. The show runs until 3 p.m. A $12 admission fee goes toward scholarships at the college. No dogs this time because of crowds. affordableartsfestival.com

Always a summer favorite: Buses at the Brewery at Bristol Brewing Company in Colorado Springs. Spot those beloved VW Hippie Buses around the area and then on display at Ivywild School, 1604 S. Cascade Ave., 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. A theme for the Bulli, an early German VW Bus name from the 1950s, is Red Baron Octoberfest with pints and footlong brats, Spark Beer and BBQ. Enjoy a Saturday of Ukrainian culture, food, art, music, ethnic clothing and family activities from 1 to 9 p.m. at Lakewood Belmar Park, 801 S. Yarrow. Hosts are the Ukrainians of Colorado. Tickets $30. Special guest musician Oleg Skrypka. Colorado Ukrainian Festival on Facebook.

So much fun Saturday, the iconic Tour de Fat in Fort Collins. All in costume they’ll have a bicycle parade starting off at 9:30 a.m. from City Park.
