Where good news shines

Colorado soccer’s Hope Leyba was named co-Big 12 offensive player of the week on Wednesday, the first weekly award of the junior’s career.

Leyba shared the honor with TCU’s Seven Castain.

A Phoenix native, Leyba has scored in all four of Colorado’s matches. She had five goals in games against Fordham and UNC Greensboro. She also had the eighth hat trick by a Buffs player and added two more goals against UNC Greensboro.

Leyba ranks second in NCAA soccer in points per game (3.50) and goals per game (1.75).

Colorado (3-0-1) hosts New Mexico State at 7 p.m. Thursday (ESPN+).
