Pedestrian in roadway dead after hit by car in Thornton Friday night

A pedestrian in the road was struck and killed by a car in Thornton on Friday night.

A 39-year-old man driving eastbound in the 7600 block of 160th Avenue hit the 36-year-old woman around 10:09 p.m. Friday, according to a Tuesday news release from the Thornton Police Department. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver was not injured and stayed on the scene to cooperate with authorities, according to the release. Police have not made any arrests in the incident and are investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision.
