Macaroni Grill closes after failing to pay taxes, leaving employees without jobs
WESTMINSTER — A Macaroni Grill restaurant in Westminster shut down last week after failing to pay sales taxes, leaving employees without warning and scrambling for their final paychecks, according to city officials and former workers.
The city of Westminster closed the restaurant after the business became delinquent on sales taxes in November 2025, when it failed to pay taxes from October. The city issued three written notices, made weekly phone calls and provided a final five-day deadline before authorizing the closure, according to city officials.
“One of my managers texted me to let me know that the business had been closed,” said Nickole Farnum, a former hostess who started working at the location in May.
The city of Westminster said the delinquency was established Nov. 21, 2025, and city staff delivered letters dated Dec. 16, 2025, Jan. 13, 2026, and Jan. 20, 2026, each including a statement of account identifying delinquent periods and balances.
