RTD merges eight southeast FlexRide zones into single DTC FlexRide area
The Regional Transportation District has consolidated eight separate FlexRide service areas in the southeast corridor into a single unified zone, DTC FlexRide, effective Feb. 1.
The change combines the former Arapahoe, Belleview, Dry Creek, Meridian, Orchard, Lone Tree, South Inverness and North Inverness areas into a single service that spans both sides of Interstate 25 between Belleview and Sky Ridge stations, according to an RTD news release.
The consolidation simplifies travel for customers by removing old boundaries, making it easier to connect to transit stations, work sites, medical facilities, shopping centers and business parks across the Denver Tech Center region without restrictions that previously limited cross-zone trips.
FlexRide operates as a shared, on-demand bus service that provides first- and last-mile connections within the agency’s service territory, according to the release. Customers must reserve rides, which can be booked as little as 10 minutes before pickup via desktop, the dedicated FlexRide smartphone app or by calling 303-299-6000. Language assistance is available at no extra cost.
Fares match standard RTD rates, with discounts applicable where eligible. Service runs from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Youth 19 and under ride free on all RTD services.
In a statement, agency officials said the merger enhances customers’ ability to make transit connections in the Denver Tech Center area.
The Regional Transportation District now lists DTC as one of 17 FlexRide service areas overall.
