Colorado marina shutting down summer boat ramp, slips due to record-low snowpack

Frisco Bay Marina faces a challenging summer as drought and record-low snowpack halt boat ramp use, affecting operations and staffing.

FRISCO — Operations will be very different this summer at the Frisco Bay Marina.

Marina staff presented to Frisco City Council on Tuesday about what operations are anticipated to look like during the 2026 summer season.

Frisco Bay Marina staff said slips and the boat ramp will not be available for use during the 2026 boating season, based on extreme drought conditions, record-low snowpack, and the most recent guidance from Denver Water.

The marina said seasonal staffing levels will also be reduced by about 17% as dock hands or aquatic nuisance species inspections will not be needed this summer without the docks and without use of the boat ramp.
