Southbound E-470 reopens in Aurora after pedestrian struck and killed
The southbound lanes of the highway were closed at 48th Avenue due to the crash and investigation
AURORA, Colo. — A person has died after they were struck by a driver on southbound E-470 near 38th Avenue in northeast Aurora, according to the Aurora Police Department.
Around 6:20 Thursday morning, a male pedestrian “intentionally” jumped in front of a white Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling southbound on the highway, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The southbound E-470 lanes were closed for an extended period of time between mile marker 23 and mile marker 54. The roadway reopened just before 10 a.m.
The collision remains under investigation by Colorado State Patrol.
