Becca Huffer wins historic third Colorado Women’s Open title with clutch birdie on 18

Becca Huffer made the putt when she had to.

The Colorado native and Monument resident hit a birdie putt on the 18th hole on Friday to capture her third Inspirato Colorado Women’s Open at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club at 10 under. She is the only three-time winner in the 32-year history of the women’s event.

But it wasn’t easy for the Littleton High School graduate. She made bogey on the previous three holes before the 18th, including two three-putts that left her tied for the lead with 2022 champion Clariss Guce when she stepped to the 18th tee.

“I was playing really well,” said Huffer, who had eight birdies on the day for a 67. “I got maybe a little nervous coming down the stretch. I knew I wanted to get a birdie on the last hole so I set myself up with a nice little about 8-foot putt.

“I was trying to clear my mind and hit a good putt, and I did.”

Guce, who shot a 69 on Friday, had a 15-foot birdie putt to tie Huffer on the 18th hole and force a playoff, but missed. Huffer won the 2019 and 2013 titles in sudden-death playoffs.

Huffer is no stranger to winning in her home state. As a high school golfer, she won the 2006 and 2008 CHSAA state titles. Her 2008 title was by a state-record 13 strokes.

Winning at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club is always a special moment for the 35-year-old, who will take home $50,000 for her victory.

“I’m excited that I could get it done today,” she said. “This is just such a fun event. I love to be part of it every year.”

Guce made things interesting down the stretch with two clutch up-and-downs on holes 16 and 17 for par to keep within striking distance. But her birdie putt on the 18th hole drifted away to give the title to Huffer.

Huffer will continue the summer playing on the Epson Tour and heads to a Michigan event on Monday. She has one top 10 and made five of seven cuts so far on the tour.

Next June, she will be focused on getting another Colorado Women’s Open title.

“It’s always fun to keep winning them,” Huffer said. “I heard the men’s record is four (held by Dave Hill), so it would be cool to get a women’s record up at four, too.”

Huffer’s three wins moved her into a tie for third place for overall Colorado Open victories with Bill Bisdorf, trailing only Hill with four Colorado Open victories and Bill Loeffler with three Colorado Opens and one Senior Open.

Amateur Lavanya Gupta wasn’t able to hold her second-round lead but was the low amateur at 5-under 211, finishing 12 strokes ahead of Aurora’s Emma Bryant.

In the pro-am competition, Team Clubhouse Work & Golf pro Alyaa Abdulghany and partner Joe Skovgaard defended their 2025 championship by posting 23 under.

Next on the Colorado Open schedule will be the men’s tournament at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club on July 23-25.
