Colorado is bursting with lively Oktoberfest celebrations, but possibly the most iconic is this weekend in Breckenridge and this is year 28. Other fun, tip the cold steins Octoberfests include the 1800 block of Denver’s Old South Pearl St., 2-10 p.m. Brews and brats and music. Try some stein hoisting or sausage eating contests. Vail Concours is one of those IYKYK world-famous events. It’s a chic, classy, exclusive three-day gathering of legendary automobiles all in one place. Agriculture Festival invites everyone out to Aurora’s far east to 1,100 acres of short-grass prairie at the Plains Conservation Center, 21901 E. Hampden. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. programs by the city and Denver Botanic Gardens. Hayrides, guided tours, food trucks. Hike the trails to see eagles and hawks and pronghorn  at the nature preserve and an educational center with a homestead village and tipi camp showing what life was like for pioneers and plains Native Americans in the 1800s. Dinosaur Stone Age Stampede is “Dino-might” they say, in the tiny town just outside  Dinosaur National Monument. Town name was changed from Artesia in 1966 because of the monument. Snowmass Balloon Festival is breathtaking and the perfect mountain location for beautiful photographs for 49 years. This weekend, three days and evenings of more than 30 hot air balloons. One of the amazing area offerings for fall opens Sunday. Visit Fritzler Farm Park in LaSalle for its Fall Festival running through the month and then adding scary Scream Acres. At Farm Fest find your way through the Corn Maze, play tetherball, ride the barrel train, play barnyard games and visit the pumpkin patch and there’s a pumpkin cannon.
