Mackenzie Dessens and Gregory K. Gonzales perform "The Nutcracker" for Colorado Ballet.

After several months of COVID-19 cancellations, Colorado Ballet will return to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House this year with a series of live, in-person performances.

Colorado Ballet announced its upcoming season schedule Friday, with performances including “Giselle,” “The Nutcracker,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “The Wizard of Oz” and Ballet MasterWorks.

“Words cannot express how much we are all looking forward to getting back into the theater to perform, and back in front of our audiences,” said Artistic Director Gil Boggs.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported Colorado Ballet during this extraordinarily difficult time and made it possible for our dancers to continue dancing.”

The 2021/22 season will kick off Oct. 8 with eight performances of “Giselle,” followed by the 60th annual performance of “The Nutcracker” from Nov. 27 to Dec. 24, featuring brand new sets and costumes.

For the first show of 2022, Colorado Ballet will bring back “Romeo and Juliet” on Feb. 4, complete with music performed by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. The schedule concludes with “The Wizard of Oz” in March and MasterWorks in April.

Tickets will be available for purchase in the spring. More information about scheduling will be released at a later date.
