1 dead, 1 injured in 2-vehicle crash on Highway 24 near Peyton, Colorado State Patrol says
One motorist was killed and another hospitalized with serious injuries following a crash on U.S. Highway 24 near Peyton on Sunday, according to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol.
Emergency personnel responded to an 11:40 a.m. call about a collision on Highway 24 and Curtis Road and found a two-vehicle crash with one driver ejected and the other pinned, State Patrol said in the release. The ejected driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The pinned driver was flown to an area hospital “with serious injuries.”
The motorists, both male, were the only occupants of their respective vehicles, officials said.
The roadway was closed in both directions between Stapleton and Scott roads as of Sunday afternoon, with no estimated time for reopening.
