The Atlanta Braves have clinched their first World Series since 1995, defeating the Houston Astros in six games, with a convincing 7-0 victory.
The Braves led from the third inning on, with mid-season acquisition Jorge Soler hitting a three-run home run off Luis Garcia in the Astros' Minute Maid Park.
That was subsequently followed up by home runs from Dansby Swanson and Freddie Freeman, as well as an RBI double from Freeman, giving them a comfortable victory. Left handed ace Max Fried tossed six shutout innings, while Will Smith clinched the save.
The win, the Braves' third title, comes months after the city of Atlanta was stripped of the All Star Game in protest over Georgia's voting law.
