Denver Mayor Michael Hancock held another weekly distribution event Friday, providing free food and supplies for residents affected by COVID-19.
Since the distribution events began in April, over $1.5 million worth of food has been donated, the city said.
Friday’s event provided food boxes, hygiene products and baby supplies in the Globeville and Elyria-Swansea community at the Wonderbound campus.
Over 1,200 families were served Friday.
Hancock was joined by the Denver Fire Department and Chief Desmond Fulton. The event was hosted in partnership with GES Coalition, We Don’t Waste, Denver Rescue Mission, WeeCycle, Hunger Free Colorado, KS 107.5 and Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
Hancock also assisted in the distribution of 100,000 masks Friday, provided by Bank of America for local non-profits, small businesses, churches and residents.
The weekly distribution events are held at different locations and times throughout the city.
Times and locations are updated and posted on Hancock’s Facebook page.
