Denver convicted murderer Dydrick Martin sentenced to life without parole
Dydrick Martin is sentenced to life without parole in the death of Torrese Gill, Jr. from Christmas Day shooting in 2022.
The Denver District Attorney’s office on Thursday announced a life sentence for the convicted murderer of a man from Christmas Day 2022.
Dydrick Martin, 28, was sentenced to life without parole in the death of Torrese Gill, Jr., 25, according to Denver DA Beth McCann’s office.
Last Friday, a jury convicted Martin of first-degree murder for shooting and killing him on Dec. 25, 2022. The shooting occurred in the 4800-block of North Crown Boulevard in northeast Denver.
From the scene, Gill was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
An obituary for Gill said he was the oldest of five siblings, known as “a ball of energy from birth,” and a natural athlete. A father of three, Gill was a proud “girl dad” who worked as a driver, including driving for Denver Public Schools.
“I want to thank the jurors for their service during the trial,” McCann said in a statement, adding the sentence “will ensure that Dydrick Martin is being held accountable for his actions and will never be free to commit other crimes.
“I also want to thank the prosecutors, investigators and victim advocates in my office, as well as the detectives with the Denver Police department, for their work on this case,” McCann said.
