Police say a 14-year-old boy died after an apparent accidental shooting in Lafayette on Sunday.
Officers were dispatched to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette after a report that a teenager was transported to the facility in a private vehicle and then admitted to the hospital for an apparent gunshot wound shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, according to the news release from the Lafayette Police Department.
The victim later died as a result of his injuries. The Boulder County Coroner's Office will release his identity and official cause of death at a later date.
Investigators believe the boy was accidentally shot at a home in the 400 block of West Oak Street in Lafayette.
Through their investigation, police identified a juvenile suspect and he was booked on charges of manslaughter, LPD official said. The suspect has since been released to his parents.
An investigation into the accidental shooting is ongoing and more information will be provided within the coming weeks, police said.
