A 60-year-old man is dead following an officer involved shooting in Fort Lupton Saturday morning.
Law enforcement officials from multiple agencies were dispatched to a home in the Aristocrat Ranchettes in unincorporated Weld County at 8:43 a.m. after a report of a man with a gun, according to a release from the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team.
A female told dispatch that there was an armed man outside her home who was preventing her from leaving and threatening to kill her.
Officials from multiple agencies including the WCSO responded and upon their arrival located the man outside of the residence.
Law enforcement ordered him to drop his weapon immediately and after "several minutes" of communicating, a member of the WCSO fired at the suspect, the agencies' spokesperson told The Denver Gazette.
The man was pronounced dead on scene. His identity has not been released.
The 19th Judicial CIRT team is investigating the incident.
