Child abuse detectives with the Denver Police Department arrested a man Tuesday in connection to the death of a 9-month-old girl last August, according to a DPD news release.
Cain Gallardo, 21, is currently being held in the downtown detention center on suspicion of committing first-degree murder and two other charges in other jurisdictions, according to online court records.
Police said Gianna Rosales was admitted to a local hospital on Aug. 3, 2020, after sustaining serious injuries that eventually resulted in her death.
The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined her death was caused by blunt force injuries, and an investigation into her death ensued, according to the release.
Investigators learned during the investigation that Gallardo was Rosales' mother's boyfriend at the time of the incident.
Police said the arrest affidavit is currently sealed and they will not be releasing any more information.
