Flashing lights on top of police patrol car concept

Police have launched a suspicious death investigation after a dead man was discovered outdoors, the Fort Collins Police Department announced Sunday.

The body was reported to police Saturday at 10:38 a.m. Officers located the body in the 800 block of North College Avenue, near the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery and the Lee Martinez Community Park.

In the investigation announcement, officials described the body as “obviously deceased.”

Police said they are treating this as a suspicious death because of evidence located at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as an adult male. No other identifying information has been released about the victim.

The Larimer County Coroner will release the cause and manner of death at a later date, police said.

"Our detectives will work tirelessly to determine what led up to this incident," said Corporal Tessa Jakobsson with Fort Collins Police Crimes Against Persons.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Julia Chenoweth at 970-416 2645.
