A single-vehicle accident in Adams County on Sunday night left one person dead and another seriously injured, the Colorado State Patrol said.
The crash happened on the 70th Avenue overpass of Interstate 25. Adams County Fire Rescue was called to the scene at 8:41 p.m.
Rescue officials said the two victims were trapped inside of the vehicle while it was on fire.
Crews from Adams County Fire Rescue put out the fire and freed the victims, taking them to Denver Health Medical Center.
The driver, a 38-year-old man from Northglenn, died at the hospital, CSP said. The passenger, a 36-year-old woman from Greeley, survived with serious injuries.
The identity of the driver will be released by the Adams County Corner’s Office after his family is notified.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Officials closed 70th Avenue eastbound and westbound for several hours after the crash.
