Denver weather: A slight break Sunday from the hottest start to fall in history

Despite feeling cooler than recent weeks, the high temperature is still expected to be warmer than the seasonal average

It might actually feel like fall Sunday in Denver. Weather forecasters are calling for temperatures to cool off slightly, dipping closer to the seasonal average.

The high in Denver on Sunday is expected to only reach 73 degrees — a cool off compared to what’s been the hottest start to fall in Denver history, but still 8 degrees warmer than the average high temperature of 66 degrees for Oct. 13, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

Expect the skies to be mostly clear on Sunday with calm winds, forecasters said.

Tonight, the temperature will cool to a low around 46 degrees under clear skies, which is about 8 degrees warmer than the average low temperature for Oct. 13 in Denver.

Enjoy the cooler daytime temperatures while they last on Sunday. Denver weather forecasters expect the high to climb back into the low 80s on Monday for Columbus Day under clear skies. That’s about 15 degrees warmer than the seasonal average high for Oct. 14, and only 4 degrees off the record high of 85 degrees for Oct. 14 in Denver, set back in 1962, according to the weather service.

The daytime highs will hover near 80 degrees through Wednesday, the weather service said, about 15 degrees warmer than the seasonal average.
