More counties across Colorado have enacted fire bans heading into the weekend as the state prepares for yet another wildfire season.

All of the bans are in a Stage 1 restriction, but as temperatures continue to rise and drought conditions in the western portion of the state increase, those are likely to become more restrictive.

Under Stage 1, open fires, smoking — except in an enclosed vehicle or building, designated outdoor area — fireworks, explosives, disposal of burning objects outdoors, chain saws and commercial and industrial operations are prohibited.

Restrictions in Colorado that went into effect Wednesday:

• Archuleta County
• Dolores County
• Grand County
• Jackson County
• La Plata County
• Moffat County
• Montezuma County
• Pitkin County
• Rio Blanco County
• Routt County
• Arapahoe National Forest (Sulphur Ranger District)
• Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Bains National Grassland
• San Juan National Forest

Restrictions starting Thursday:

• Clear Creek County
• Hinsdale County
• San Miguel County
• Ouray County

Restrictions starting Friday:

• Eagle County
• Garfield County
• Mesa County
• Summit County
• White River National Forest (Within Eagle and Summit counties)
• Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests

Bureau of Land Management public lands within those counties are also under Stage 1 bans.
