‘Hands Off!’ rallies against Trump, Musk fill Colorado streets on Saturday

DENVER — Protesters across Colorado took to the streets on Saturday as part of the nationwide “Hands Off!” rallies against President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
Demonstrators all over the country are protesting the administration’s moves on issues pertaining to the economy, human rights and government rollbacks. More than 1,200 “Hands Off!” rallies were organized by over 150 groups, per the Associated Press.
In Colorado, rallies big and small were reportedly taking place across the state, including in Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Loveland, Longmont, Greeley and Highlands Ranch.
An aerial view of the Colorado state Capitol in Denver showed a sea of protesters standing in the surrounding area. A group of them branched off to the west of the Capitol, marching the streets holding signs, flags and banners that read, “Fight Trump’s agenda!” and, “Workers should have power, not the billionaires!”
Due to the demonstrations, Lincoln Street was closed between 14th Avenue and Colfax Avenue, Denver Police said.
Throughout the U.S., opponents of Trump and Musk, the billionaire who leads the new Department of Government Efficiency, staged the protests in response to the administration’s actions including mass federal employee firings, Social Security Administration field office closures, immigrant deportations, rollbacks to protections for transgender individuals and slashes to federal health program funding.
Through his role in DOGE, Musk — who also owns Tesla, SpaceX and the social media platform X — has spearheaded government downsizing, claiming he is saving taxpayers billions of dollars.
Asked about the protests, the White House said in a statement that “President Trump’s position is clear: he will always protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for eligible beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the Democrats’ stance is giving Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare benefits to illegal aliens, which will bankrupt these programs and crush American seniors.”
Activists have organized U.S.-wide demonstrations against Trump or Musk multiple times since Trump returned to office.
