Bustang adds additional services beginning Sunday

The Colorado Department of Transportation’s regional bus network focused on connecting rural areas is adding new weekday, weekend and holiday routes.

CDOT announced Thursday the addition of services to its north, south and west lines that will begin Sunday.

Currently, Bustang’s north and south lines operate from Fort Collins to Denver and Colorado Springs to Denver four times each weekday.

Beginning Sunday, two additional routes will be added to the weekday schedule, and two round-trip routes on weekends and holidays, according to a CDOT release.

“The addition of these routes bring us very close to our pre-pandemic service levels,” said Kay Kelly, chief of CDOT’s office of innovative mobility in a release.

Additionally, the west line that services between Grand Junction, Glenwood Springs, Vail and Denver will be adding three trips — one for each location — on weekends and holidays.

CDOT also announced that Bustang’s capacity restriction has been lifted and can service up to 51 passengers per trip. However, public safety measures such as face mask requirements are still in place.

“We are continuing to follow federal law with respect to face masks, and are also asking passengers to please purchase tickets in advance, as much as possible, in order to minimize physical interactions with the drivers,” Kelly said.

Passengers can purchase tickets online or on the new Bustang Outrider ticketing application.
