Showers and thunderstorms are expected to return Tuesday afternoon to begin another hot and rainy week. The forecast calls for partly sunny shies with a high near 89, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday is also expected to be partly sunny with a high near 88 and a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon.

Chances for afternoon rain decrease slightly on Thursday as highs remain in the upper 80s. The sun is expected to return in full Friday for a high in the lower 90s.

Today: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Light and variable wind becoming west 8-13 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Wednesday: A 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. West wind 5-10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 17 mph.

Thursday: A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. West southwest wind 5-9 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 17 mph.

Friday: A 10% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Sunny, with a high near 92.
