Road Closed Sign Close-Up

Eastbound Interstate 70 between Shoshone and Hanging Lake will be closed overnight due to a rollover crash Friday, the Colorado State patrol said.

Both directions of I-70 were closed and traffic was detoured to Highway 13 then U.S. Highway 40 and Highway 9 back to the interstate, said Colorado State Patrol Master Trooper Gary Culter, a public information officer with the department.

Authorities were dispatched to the Hanging Lake exit shortly after noon on Friday after an 18-wheeler rolled on the interstate. The truck blocked the eastbound lanes and the driver was still inside the vehicle when troopers arrived.

Officials freed the driver who was then taken by ambulance to a hospital. His condition wasn't released.

The rollover threw debris to the westbound lanes, which struck another vehicle and caused minor damage.

Culter said opening lanes for westbound traffic would take "at least a few more hours."
