Trump relishes 'Let's go Brandon' chant, says he likes original phrase 'better'

The "Let's go Brandon" chant did not escape former President Donald Trump's attention.

At an America First Policy Institute event Thursday, the crowd shouted the popular meme while Trump gave a speech. "Let's go Brandon" originated when an NBC sports journalist misreported what fans chanted at a NASCAR race. Their chant was actually "F*** Joe Biden."

"Was that young, attractive female reporter — was she trying to cover up, or was she being nice? Did she not understand what was happening?" Trump asked. "She works for NBC, so it's about 94% sure that she knew exactly what she was doing."

Trump attributed NASCAR driver Brandon Brown's fame to the meme in his name, calling him a "big star."

"Brandon's become a big star," he continued. "Nobody ever heard of this guy — now he's one of the biggest stars."
