Homicide investigation underway after body found near Colorado trailhead

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office reports that the body of a deceased adult male was found near Woodlake Trailhead in the area of Eastonville on October 27, following an extensive search for a missing person.

A missing person report was received during the early morning hours of that day at 3:40 a.m. after the individual failed to return home from work. Deputies started to search the Black Forest region, per a report from the Colorado Springs Gazette, in the area of Hodgen and Eastonville roads. Eventually, the missing person’s vehicle was found on Spectrum Loop, with the body of the male found about 13 miles east of this location in the area of the Woodlake Trailhead.

Following the discovery of the body, a 27-year-old female was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, and motor vehicle theft. It is believed the incident is isolated with no ongoing threat to the greater community.

All suspects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
