7 spots for ‘wine-lovers’ found around Colorado’s mountain towns

Although Colorado’s mountain towns are more well-known for their range of outdoor activities and craft beer, a few great wineries are waiting to be found in the state’s high country.

Here are seven wineries and wine shops worth checking out in Colorado’s mountain towns:

1. Ridge Street Wine

Located in the heart of Breckenridge, Ridge Street Wine serves wine, cheese, and chocolate. It opened in 2000, and the shop offers a unique and affordable selection of wines from around the globe. Plus, the wines are hand-chosen by the buyer/owner Anne Dowling.

2. Root & Flower

This modern bar in Vail offers eclectic wines by the glass, an extensive cocktail list, and a food menu. Root & Flower offers an “approachable elegance for guests to stop by and enjoy a tasting experience.”

3. Element 47

Tucked inside Aspen’s The Little Nell, Element 47 is a Michelin Guide-recommended restaurant serving contemporary cuisine. The menu includes local wagyu beef, house-made pasta, and seasonal produce. It’s also known for its extensive wine menu.

4. Continental Divide Winery

Dubbed as the “world’s highest altitude winery,” Continental Divide Winery is located on Breckenridge’s Main Street. The winery produces all of its wine in a state-of-the-art winemaking facility in Fairplay, where it also has a tasting room.

5. Snowy Peaks Winery

Located in Estes Park, Snowy Peaks Winery serves a wide selection of wine varieties made from Colorado-grown grapes, plus handmade cheeses and chocolates, jams, jellies, sodas, and fruit ciders. Guests can enjoy their wine with a view of the Rocky Mountains from the tasting room.

6. Creekside Cellars

Guests can enjoy wine and food while sitting along a creek in Evergreen at Creekside Cellars. The wines are handcrafted on-site at the winery from 100% Colorado grapes grown in the Grand Valley AVA on Colorado’s Western Slope.

7. Black Bridge Winery

This winery was named after a historic bridge that spans the North Fork of the Gunnison River, which borders its farm. Wines from Black Bridge Winery include classic reds, red blends, white wines, and full-flavored fruit wines.
