22-year-old female skier dies on Aspen slopes
A 22-year-old woman has died after striking a tree at Aspen Highlands Ski Resort on Saturday around 11:30 a.m.
The unidentified female skier was on the Exhibition run at the time of the accident. This is a ‘blue’ intermediate-rated ski run that travels under the the resort’s Exhibition Lift.
Ski patrol responded immediately with the woman being found unconscious and non-responsive. Life-saving measures were conducted but were tragically not successful.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Condolences go out to those impact by this death.
This is the third on-resort skiing or snowboarding death to be publicly reported thus far this season in Colorado, with one avalanche-related snowboarding death also taking place in the backcountry. On-resort deaths can be difficult to track though, as there is no official requirement for resorts to report them.
