800-pound cow rescued after getting stuck in mud

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office helped in an uncommon rescue mission on Tuesday.

An 800-pound Angus cow had gotten stuck knee-deep in mud in Jefferson County, the sheriff’s office wrote in an X post.

Coal Creek Fire Rescue assisted the sheriff’s office in rescuing the cow while multiple other cows watched the situation unfold. According to the X post, it took rescue crews an hour and two truck winches to get the cow out of the mud and up the hill.

The cow then rested for a time before walking away. The sheriff’s office said the other cows stood and watched the entire operation.
