Evergreen Fire Rescue to host wildfire evacuation planning workshop
Evergreen residents are invited to attend a free wildfire evacuation planning workshop on Sunday, June 23, and learn how simple actions ahead of time that can help save lives and protect property in the event of a wildfire.
Personnel from Evergreen Fire Rescue, Genesee Fire Rescue, Foothills Fire & Rescue, and Jeffcom 911 will teach the three-hour class, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Fire Rescue Administration Building, 1802 Bergen Pkwy, in Evergreen.
Attendees will learn what to expect during a wildfire event and how to build a wildfire plan.
Residents and homeowners in Evergreen live in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI), which means they are at an inherently higher risk of wildfire.
Wildfires can spread quickly, often leaving minutes to evacuate.
The United States Fire Administration suggests simple things like pre-packing emergency supply kits, keeping the tank at least half full in vehicles and backing into the garage, or parking in an open space with the vehicle facing the direction of escape can improve survivability.
No registration is required to attend the workshop. For questions, email [email protected].
