‘Hidden gem’ aerial tram soon to start second season following fears of permanent closure
Fears of permanent closure of the Estes Park Aerial Tram have subsided, and the attraction is about to start it’s second-season since an early 2024 announcement that a new owner was needed in order to keep the ride operational.
Now operated by Gondola Ventures, rides on the Estes Park Aerial Tram are set to start on May 16, and at time of publishing, a discount of 20 percent was being offered for ticket buyers on the ride’s website. While a standard adult ticket is priced at $44.95 on peak dates, the discount knocks that down to $35.96.
The tramway travels from 7,590 feet at the lower terminal to an upper terminal at 8,619 feet above sea level near the top of Prospect Mountain. The ride takes about five minutes each way, with the average person opting to hang out and enjoy the views from the summit for about an hour. Many people end up hiking to the West Summit of the peak during their trip, which is about 0.75 miles each way and offers stunning views of the surrounding area.
Built by Robert Heron in 1955 and considered to be the first scenic tramway of its type in the United States, the Estes Park Aerial Tram is an often-overlooked hidden gem that’s sure to offer a memorable experience for riders.
