String of arson attacks terrorizing community in Colorado
A neighborhood in the northern Colorado city of Fort Collins is being terrorized by a series of reported arson attacks, which have damaged a home, decorative items, a vehicle, and more.
According to a report from the Coloradoan, cases of arson first started being reported in the area of TimberVine neighborhood and the Collins Aire Mobile Home Park in October and in November, with additional cases popping up near the beginning of January.
Instances have included vehicles being lit on fire, damage to landscaping, and flags being burnt, numbering at least four cases this month. A full breakdown of these cases can be found in reporting from The Coloradoan here.
CBS News reports that one of the families involved emigrated from Honduras, with an attack on their home being one of the most severe. Two vehicles were lost and their house was damaged following what’s believed to be an early morning arson attack. The family has expressed concerns that they’re being targeted.
A GoFundMe campaign has since been launched to help support victims of the arson attacks, having already raised $16,000 of a $20,000 goal.
“The incident has greatly affected the family’s ability to carry out their daily activities. With the loss of their vehicles, they are now faced with the challenge of finding alternative means of transportation. This has made it difficult for them to commute to work, transport their children to school, and run errands,” reads the GoFundMe page related to the Honduran family that is involved in the case.
Anyone with information related to this string of arson attacks should contact the Fort Collins Police or the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
