Stunning photos capture ‘fiery aurora’ above Colorado mountain towns
The aurora borealis was once again visible above Colorado on Monday night, especially by those capturing the celestial spectacle with a long-exposure photograph.
A number of stunning photographs have since been published of the event, including some over Summit County’s Keystone Resort.
A Keystone team member named Trent Junion captured the scene, showing a contrast between lit ski lift equipment in the foreground and a sky filled with reds and greens in the backdrop.

According to the National Weather Service Space Prediction Center, plenty of solar activity is expected in upcoming days. This may bring more chances to spot the aurora over Colorado. Their ‘viewing conditions’ maps can be found here, and remember, while Colorado might not be in the official viewing zone, many times the Northern Lights can still be seen in the Centennial State when places like Wyoming and South Dakota are in that zone. Heading to a place that’s free of light pollution is key, while using a camera with a long-exposure setting can help capture colors not visible to the naked eye.
