The CEO for a Utah-based tech company called Opiniion has died following a 150-plus-foot fall that he took while canyoneering in Utah.

The fall took place near the exit of Zion National Park’s Heaps Canyon on October 5 involving 40-year-old Justin Bingham.

According to the National Park Service, Bingham was with three others when the fall occurred. The group was following their permitted itinerary at the time of the incident.

When a report of the fall was received by emergency services, the Zion National Park Technical Search and Rescue Team along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrived on site to render medical care. A Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter extracted Bingham to Watchman Campground. While additional care was provided at the campground, Bingham was pronounced dead prior to being transported via air ambulance to a local hospital.

The three other members of the group were not injured in the incident.

Information about what caused the fall was not released.

“Justin was a visionary who believed in the power of genuine connections, both with our clients and within our team,” read a press release from Opiniion. “His commitment to building meaningful relationships made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Justin’s spirit of adventure and dedication to living life fully will be deeply missed.”
