Person missing after falling into water at popular Front Range reservoir

According to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, a report about a missing paddleboarder at Horsetooth Reservoir was received on Sunday, September 7. Numerous agencies responded to assist in the situation, including Larimer County Parks, Poudre Fire Authorities, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team, and personnel from the sheriff’s office.
The missing person had reportedly fallen into the water without a life jacket in the area of Satanka Cove.
As the search progressed, the effort transitioned from a rescue mission to a recovery operation, with crews utilizing drones, boats, and sonar to search for the missing paddleboarder. As of Monday morning, there hasn’t been an update on the effort.
The identity of the missing person has not been released.
Horsetooth Reservoir is located near Fort Collins, with the Satanka Cove area located on the northern end of the reservoir. It’s a designated paddlecraft launch area and is popular among paddleboarders.
