The agent for pass rusher Dondrea Tillman is confident his client will sign as soon as Wednesday with the Broncos.

Tillman, who won a United Football League Championship on Sunday with the Birmingham Stallions, flew Tuesday afternoon to Denver. The free agent will work out with the Broncos on Wednesday and take a physical.

“I’m optimistic they’re going to sign him,’’ agent Marty Magid told The Denver Gazette on Tuesday.

Magid said the Broncos did extensive research on Tillman before deciding to bring him to Broncos Park. Monday was the first day teams could reach out to express their interest in Tillman.

“They like him,’’ Magid said. “They’ve reviewed his film. They’ve had all the coaches and (those in the front office) look at it. They did a pretty severe analysis on him. I told them I have other teams that have interest in him, which I do, and if they want first shot at him, let’s get him on the plane.”

If the Broncos don’t sign Tillman, Magid said there are at least three other teams that have interest.

“They have first crack at him, and if they don’t sign him, he’s getting on a plane to another team,’’ Magid said.

The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Tillman played defensive end in Birmingham’s 4-3 scheme. Magid said he could play defensive end or outside linebacker in Denver’s 3-4 scheme, although it might mean losing 10 pounds to play at outside linebacker.

Tillman played for the Stallions in their 25-0 win over the San Antonio Brahmas in the inaugural UFL Championship Game. In 2022 and 2023, he won titles with Birmingham in the USFL.

In 2024, Tillman had 27 tackles, including six for loss and 3.5 sacks for the Stallions. He is a late bloomer, having played at Division II Indiana University of Pennsylvania, his final season being in 2019.

Krull to ‘Tight End University’

Broncos tight end Lucas Krull is taking part this week at Tight End University in Nashville, Tenn.

Magid, who also represents Krull, said he worked to get the ascending tight end into the prestigious camp, which is run by star tight ends Travis Kelce of Kansas City and George Kittle of San Francisco and former star tight end Greg Olsen.

“Lucas was pretty excited that I got him in,” Magid said.

This is the fourth year of the camp. Several dozen of the NFL’s better tight ends have shown up each year.

“It’s super cool,” Magid said. “A lot of great players down there. I think it’s a great opportunity that they picked him to come in. They run a great program. It will be awesome for Lucas to be around those All-Pros and learn technique from them.”

Training camp dates

The NFL announced Tuesday that Broncos rookies will report July 17 for training camp and veterans July 23. The team has yet to announce any camp details.

The Green Bay Packers announced Monday their joint practice with Denver will be Aug. 16 at Broncos Park. The teams then will play a preseason game Aug. 18 at Empower Field at Mile High.
