Denver Broncos waive wide receiver Josh Reynolds
Denver has bye in Week 14 before hosting Colts on Dec. 15 at Empower Field
The Broncos are moving on from Josh Reynolds.
The team waived their veteran wide receiver on Tuesday, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.
Denver placed Reynolds on injured reserve (finger surgery) after Week 5. He was also the “victim of a shooting” on Oct. 18 and suffered “minor injuries” during an incident in Denver, the team has said. Reynolds returned Nov. 13 to being a full practice participant but has remained inactive for games.
Denver signed Reynolds to a two-year, $9-million contract in the offseason entering his eighth year in the league. However, there was no guaranteed money in 2025, per overthecap.com. The Broncos will save $4.5 million on their 2025 salary cap, with a $1 million dead cap charge, by cutting him before next season.
Reynolds recorded 12 catches for 183 yards and one touchdown over five games with the Broncos.
Denver absorbed his absence with the emergence of rookie wide receivers Troy Franklin and Devaughn Vele. Courtland Sutton has become a favorite target for Nix with 63 receptions for 846 yards and five touchdowns entering the bye week. Broncos utility player Marvin Mims is also more involved in the receiving game.
The Broncos (8-5) have a bye in Week 14 before playing the Colts Sunday, Dec. 15, at Empower Field.
