Grandview High graduate Jordan Nytes earns Big 12 honor for CU Buffs soccer | Colorado Sunshine

Where good news shines

The Big 12 is getting to know Colorado soccer again.

Jordan Nytes, a junior goalkeeper from Grandview High, was named Big 12 player of the week Wednesday. It’s the first Big 12 player of the week for the Buffs in their return to the conference. Nytes split goalkeeper of the week honors with Baylor’s Azul Alvarez.

Nytes did not allow a goal in wins over Wyoming and Michigan. She made 12 saves.

“Jordi is off to a great start this season,” CU coach Danny Sanchez said.

A team captain, Nytes leads the Big 12 with 25 saves. She earned a pair of Pac-12 goalkeeper of the week awards last season. Nytes was the Gatorade girls soccer player of the year in Colorado and was a standout for Real Colorado.

No. 22 Colorado plays at UNC Greensboro at 5 p.m. Thursday (ESPN+) and at North Carolina State at 5 p.m. Sunday (ACC Network). The Buffs host Denver Thursday, Sept. 5.
