Denver Pioneers still No. 1 in poll as Colorado College jumps to No. 9 | Colorado Sunshine

Where good news shines

The Colorado College Tigers moved up on their bye week.

And the Denver Pioneers are still the team to beat.

Colorado College rose up two spots to No. 9 in the USCHO Division I Men’s hockey poll released Monday, even though there was no opponent on the schedule last weekend.

CC has already surpassed its highest ranking last season, which was 10th. The ranking is the program’s highest since Jan. 12, 2012, when CC was ranked eighth.

The Tigers were the beneficiaries of a tough weekend for the 11th-ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats, who were swept by No. 6 Maine.

The Tigers also moved ahead of No. 10 Michigan. CC is also ranked ninth in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, which was also released Monday.

Coming off a sweep of then-No. 19 Northeastern, Denver remained No. 1 in both polls. The Pioneers host the University of Wisconsin Friday and Saturday.
