Nikola Jokic named NBA player of the week after dominant stretch for Nuggets
In Denver's four wins, Jokic averaged 29.5 points, 15.8 rebounds and 14.5 assists.
Nikola Jokic made the NBA’s decision easy.
After leading the Nuggets to a 4-0 week with gaudy numbers, Jokic was named Western Conference player of the week on Monday.
In Denver’s wins over Toronto, Oklahoma City, Miami and Dallas, Jokic averaged 29.5 points, 15.8 rebounds and 14.5 assists. He recorded a triple-double in all four games.
Jokic finished the week with 37 points, 18 rebounds and 15 assists in Denver’s two-point win over the Mavericks Sunday. He shot 56.6% from the field, 50% from 3 and had multiple combined steals and blocks during Denver’s undefeated week.
Monday’s announcement marks the 15th time Jokic has been named player of the week, the most in franchise history. Anthony Davis (Lakers), LeBron James (Lakers), Kyrie Irving (Mavericks), Anthony Edwards (Timberwolves), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder) and Norman Powell (Clippers) were the other nominees from the Western Conference.
Darius Garland was named the Eastern Conference player of the week after the Cavaliers continued their undefeated start.
