University of Colorado lands commitment from 5-star quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis
It really is “Perfect Timing,” apparently.
Colorado may have just secured its next star quarterback as 5-star recruit Julian “JuJu” Lewis announced his commitment to the Buffaloes live on ESPN on the “Pat McAfee Show” Thursday morning.
The Carrollton, Georgia native recently decommitted from USC, a program he was committed to for over a year. He also recently visited Georgia and has also taken visits to Indiana and Alabama.
But his over yearlong flirtation with Deion Sanders’ program has ultimately ended up with committing to the team in Boulder. Lewis took an official visit to CU in June and was recently in attendance for the Buffs’ win over Cincinnati last month.

Both 247sports and On3 have Lewis listed as a 4-star, but he is currently ranked second overall and as a 5-star in the ESPN300 for the 2025 recruiting class.
Lewis threw for over 4,100 passing yards and nearly 50 touchdowns as a 14-year-old freshman starting quarterback at Carrollton High School and put up similar numbers as a sophomore. He was named MaxPreps’ national player of the year in each of his first two high school seasons.
In January, Lewis announced he was reclassifying to the 2025 recruiting class and would be heading to college as a 17-year-old.
In 11 games this season, Lewis has completed a career-high 78% of his passes for 2,842 passing yards and 40 touchdowns. He and unbeaten Carrollton face Valdosta in a Georgia high school football playoff game on Friday night.
Lewis is the 11th member of the Buffs’ 2025 recruiting class, but that number could quickly grow with plenty of players visiting Boulder recently and with the program now having its future quarterback in the fold.
According to 247sports, Lewis is the sixth-highest rated player to commit to CU in the internet rankings era and the highest ever at the quarterback position.
Seems like Coach Prime is laying the foundation for the post-Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter era of Buffs football and he’s now got his quarterback for it.
