9News anchor returns to work-from-home over COVID-19 rates

9News anchor Kyle Clark has returned to broadcasting from home as a result of the recent COVID-19 spike, he announced Monday evening.

Clark said his decision to return home is based on increasing COVID-19 hospitalization rates and Monday’s recommendation from Gov. Jared Polis that employees in the state should work from home as much as possible.

“It’s just about reducing our number of daily contact with other people,” Clark said in a video posted on Twitter. “Every contact you avoid, makes a difference.”

Clark said several 9News employees will shift back to partial work-from-home schedules and that the majority of the team at his show “Next with Kyle Clark” have been working from home since the pandemic began.

Previously, Clark anchored from his home for more than five months at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“What we do matters … choices big and small,” Clark said. “Where I sit every night is a pretty small one.”

On Monday, Polis said more than 4,000 COVID-19 cases are reported daily in Colorado. The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now over 12%.

There were a record 1,278 confirmed COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state on Sunday, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported.

The Denver Gazette and 9News are news partners.
