Denver weather: Warm temperatures on Columbus Day Monday around the city

Warming will return to Denver on Monday after a cool and fall-like Sunday.

Ample sun with a high near 81 awaits Denver residents today, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. We’ll have light and variable winds, becoming northeast 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 48. East northeast wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable.

Continued sunny, dry and above-average temperatures dominate the rest of the week’s forecast, but starting Friday a change will happen, with rain and colder weather making an appearance in Colorado via the first winter-like cold front of the fall.

Here is the 4-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 72. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 7 mph in the morning.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 80. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 75.

Friday: A chance of rain, mainly after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 67. Breezy.
