Denver weather: Cooler Friday after city’s first freeze occurred overnight
Cooler temperatures along with ample sunshine are forecast for Friday around Denver.
Denver also recorded its first freeze of the season, with the temperatures reaching 32 degrees Friday morning. The National Weather Service in Boulder reported that Denver’s first freeze of 2024 was 2.5 weeks later than normal.
Denver residents can expect patchy frost before 9 a.m., otherwise, Friday will offer sunny skies, with a high near 66, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. South winds to blow between 5 to 7 mph, becoming calm.
“Widespread frost is expected across the plains this morning,” the NWS said. “No other hazardous weather is expected today.”
Tonight expect mostly clear skies, with a low around 41. East winds to blow around 6 mph, becoming south southwest after midnight.
The heat returns for the weekend and extends into early next week before a substantial shift occurs for mid-week.
“Well above normal temperatures are likely Saturday through Monday, with elevated to critical fire weather conditions at times,” the NWS said.
A pattern change is expected next week, with cooler, unsettled weather returning to the area by Tuesday or Wednesday with rain and mountain snow.
“As temperatures cool, snow level will lower with it possibly getting cold enough for snow across the urban corridor Wednesday morning,” the NWS said.
Here’s the 4-day forecast from the National Weather Service.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 75. South southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. South wind 3 to 6 mph
