Denver weather: A return of afternoon showers Wednesday
Denver is forecast for a chance of afternoon showers alongside highs in the upper 80s, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
There’s a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast, mainly after 3 p.m. Expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 87 degrees.
“Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop in the mountains by midday and then spread across the plains during the afternoon and evening,” the NWS said. “They will produce strong, gusty outflow winds from 45 to 55 mph but mainly light rainfall.”
Looking ahead to Wednesday night, a 20% chance of showers persists through 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast and a low of 58 degrees.
Highs are expected to shoot up to the 90s on Thursday, marking the first day of dryness ahead. A fire weather watch is in effect from Thursday afternoon to evening for most of the plains east of I-25 and around the Paler Divide.
